A 6-light chandelier with 60W bulbs consumes 360W total, which is why many people are switching to LED chandelier bulbs that use 4-7W to produce equivalent light output – the energy and heat savings can be substantial.

Clear versus frosted glass is an aesthetic choice that affects the light quality and fixture appearance. Clear glass bulbs show the visible filament, creating a more traditional, elegant look with slightly sparkly light that works beautifully in crystal chandeliers where the light refraction is part of the appeal. Frosted or white glass bulbs diffuse the light more evenly and hide the filament, providing softer illumination without bright spots or glare. Some people find frosted bulbs easier on the eyes, while others prefer the classic look of clear bulbs.

LED chandelier bulbs have become increasingly popular as alternatives to traditional incandescent versions, offering 80-90% energy savings, dramatically reduced heat output (important in summer months), and 15,000-25,000 hour lifespans that eliminate the frequent bulb changes chandeliers require. Modern LED chandelier bulbs are available in flame tip, bent tip, and globe shapes with warm 2700K color temperature that closely mimics incandescent light. The visual appearance has improved significantly – many LED chandelier bulbs now use LED filaments arranged to look remarkably similar to traditional incandescent filaments.
