The special UV-transmitting glass construction of this germicidal fluorescent tube allows 253.7nm UVC radiation from the mercury discharge to pass through, penetrating and inactivating the DNA of most micro-organisms, while the lamp glass filters out 185nm ozone-forming radiation so no ozone is produced during operation. A protective internal coating helps maintain consistent UV output over the rated 8,000-hour average life, supporting reliable disinfection performance throughout the lamp's service life.
